About the Data
This data set obtained from kaggle.com includes all needed information from the host's name, Listing ID, Review Date, Neighborhood name, Listing price and room types of Airbnb listings in New York City in 2019. I analyzed this data using Microsoft Power BI.
After loading the data file into Power BI, I cleaned and transformed it with Power Query.

Average Price Per Night
I used a card visual to show the KPI of the average price of all listings per night which came to be $141.78.
Most Expensive Listing
A card visual was used to show the KPI for the most expensive Airbnb listing.
Average Price by Borough
I opted for a clustered column chart to show the average price of room listings in the different boroughs by room type, with individual columns representing each room type.
Average Price by Room Type
A clustered bar chart was used to show the average price per night for the different room types.
Number of Listings by Borough
A clustered bar chart was used to show the number of listings in the different New York City boroughs.
Types of Listings
A donut chart was used to show the different room types listed and their relative percentages.
Reviews by Month
I used a clustered bar chart to show the number of reviews done during each month, from January to July which was the last review month.
Lowest vs Highest Listing Price
A multi-row card visual was used to show the lowest listing price and the highest listing price for each borough.
Revenue by Month
A line chart was used to show the revenue/income from Airbnb listings per month.
INSIGHTS
The Average price per night for Airbnb in NYC was $141.78.
Airbnb listings in Manhattan Borough were the most expensive while Staten Island had the most affordable listings.
Over 50% of Airbnb listings in NYC were Entire homes/apartments while Shared room listings made a very small percentage which indicates that there was a higher demand for Entire homes/apartments and Private rooms.
Entire homes/apartments were far more expensive than Private Rooms and Shared rooms.
The majority of the Reviews were carried out in July which could imply that June recorded the highest number of visitors, while February had the lowest number of visitors.
Brooklyn Borough had the highest number of Airbnb Listings followed closely by Manhattan while Staten Island had the least.
The most revenue was made in June.
